Puri victim’s mother files complaint at police station
In a significant development, the mother of the teenage girl in the Balanga area of Puri district, who was set on fire by some unidentified assailants in broad daylight on Saturday, has lodged a formal complaint at the Balanga Police Station.
In the FIR, the victim's mother has mentioned that the miscreants attempted to burn her daughter after making her unconscious by covering her face with a cloth. According to the FIR, the victim managed to escape from the clutches of the three accused and fled to Terahala village for safety.
The victim's mother has demanded immediate arrest and stringent action against the three culprits.
Responding to the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi stated that the victim will be airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for treatment if necessary.

Chief Minister Majhi further stated that the victim is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and the state government is closely monitoring her condition.
“All necessary efforts are being taken to save the victim’s life. Stern action will be taken against the accused," said CM Majhi.
Meanwhile, Kendrapara MP and BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda expressed his grief and shock over the tragic incident.
"I am deeply saddened and profoundly shocked to learn about the heartbreaking incident that occurred in the Balanga area of Puri district. The state government has taken the incident very seriously and has made all arrangements to provide every possible assistance for the treatment of the minor victim. The government is determined to take strict action against all those involved in this heinous crime. I pray that the minor girl, by the grace of Lord Shri Jagannath, recovers quickly and returns home," wrote Panda on social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).
