Puri girl set on fire: Victim's father says govt should take action against culprits
The father of the teenage girl in the Balanga area of Puri district, who was set on fire by some unidentified assailants in broad daylight, stated that he is still unaware of the perpetrators of the crime.
"Her treatment is currently going on. I have spoken with my daughter. However, nothing about the incident has been discussed with her yet. I have no clue about the miscreants who perpetrated the crime. How could we know about the miscreants until our daughter is cured? I can't guess anybody's name," said the victim's father.
"I wish for the recovery of my daughter soon, and the government should take action against the culprits. Her condition is a bit stable now. She is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital ,and she is able to speak a little bit now. I have not contacted anybody over the incident as my mental condition is not stable now. My daughter has taken some medicines and injections, and she is feeling a little bit better now," he added.
According to doctors, the 16-year-old has suffered 70% burn injuries, primarily on her upper body, and her condition remains critical. Following initial treatment at Pipilil, the victim was shifted to the Burn Unit of AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s Trauma Centre, where a specialist medical team has begun her treatment.
The transfer was personally ordered by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who has assured that the Odisha government will bear all medical expenses. Deputy CM Parida condemned the incident and promised uncompromising action against the culprits. She has assured that the government will ensure that justice is served.
