Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Friday, directed senior officials to expedite a series of key infrastructure and economic projects proposed for Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency, following a detailed meeting with MP Bhartruhari Mahtab at Lok Seva Bhawan.
During the high-level meeting, Cuttack MP Mahtab presented an integrated proposal for civic, industrial, and cultural development in the millennium city. He outlined the urgent need for interventions to transform the historic city and its surrounding subdivisions into a model constituency of growth and heritage.
Among the major projects discussed were the establishment of a vending zone in the OMP area, the construction of a state-of-the-art convention centre, and the comprehensive revitalisation of the Ranihat area.
The proposal also included the development of a new park at Press Chhak and the integrated upgrading of Satyabhamapur, the birthplace of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das.
In addition to urban civic improvements, Mahtab called for state intervention on critical infrastructure and livelihood issues such as a drainage master plan for the CMC and CDA regions.
Further, a barrage project on the Mahanadi River to manage water resources, and the revival of defunct industries like Badamba Sugar Mill and Bhagatpur Cotton Mill were also discussed. The MP also flagged the need for sub-divisional level cold storage units to support farmers and agro-based businesses in the region.
Responding positively, CM Majhi assured full administrative support for the proposed plans and emphasised that the projects must move forward without delay. He instructed Departmental Secretaries to remove procedural hurdles and fast-track approvals to ensure timely implementation on the ground, according to updates provided by the Chief Minister’s Office.
Stressing the Odisha government’s vision for balanced regional development, the Chief Minister reiterated his goal to make Cuttack and its neighbouring areas a modern, prosperous, and heritage-rooted model region.
