Odisha announces 1083 vacancies in Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshya Vahini

In a bid to enhance security measures at the Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, the Odisha government has unveiled a major recruitment initiative for the newly formed ‘Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshya Vahini’ (SSMSV).

The Odisha government has announced a large-scale recruitment plan for the newly established ‘Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshya Vahini’ (SSMSV).

This initiative aims to bolster security at the sacred Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, ensuring safety of both the devotees and the temple premises.

Roles and Responsibilities of Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshya Vahini

As per the official notification, a total of 1,083 positions will be filled, ranging across various ranks and responsibilities. The recruitment process will seek to appoint one Commandant from the State Armed Cadre, alongside two Deputy Commandants, and ten Assistant Commandants. There will also be opportunities for eight Inspectors and 31 Sub-Inspectors. Additionally, the force will require 24 Assistant Sub-Inspectors. 

The roles will also be available for personnel from the State Cadre of Civil Police, including one Sub-Inspector and two Assistant Sub-Inspectors.

Recruitment for Field Positions

The recruitment drive also extends to appointing 240 Havildars and 720 Sepoys from the battalion cadre. Notifications regarding these positions have been officially issued and aspiring candidates are encouraged to apply.

Oversight and Selection Process

The entire recruitment process will be conducted under the guidance of a Committee led by the Additional Director General of Police. Other key figures in the committee include the Inspector General of Police, DIG Central Range, and the Superintendent of Police of Puri . The Director General of Police will also nominate additional members, with the ranks of Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, Superintendent of Police, or Commandant.
