Surat Police on Sunday night arrested two persons for allegedly smuggling ganja (marijuana) from Odisha to Gujrat.

According to sources, the police have seized over 14 kilograms and 600 grams of cannabis, valued at over Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession.

The swift action was taken as part of Gujarat Police's intensified "No Drugs in Gujarat" campaign.

Incidentally, the operation in Gujarat coincided with a similarly intensified and ongoing “Green Clean Mission” in Odisha. Aiming to eliminate cannabis cultivation in the state by 2026, the campaign has witnessed rapid action in the past few weeks.

A joint operation by Odisha police and the Excise department destroyed acres of cannabis crops worth more than Rs 17 crore in Gajapati district of Odisha on early Monday. Over 87 acres of land engaged in the illegal cultivation of cannabis was cleared.
