A domestic disagreement allegedly led to the murder of a lady constable and a suicide attempt by her husband. The fatal mishap was reported from Cuttack City, where Bishnupriya Mallik was allegedly stabbed by her husband Biswajit Mallik on Wednesday during an intense argument at their rented house in Siddheswar Sahi.

Married since 2019 and sharing a six-year-old daughter, the couple’s relationship tragically ended in violence this afternoon. Following a heated altercation accused Biswajit attacked Bishnupriya with a knife. Alerted by the noise, some neighbouring residents intervened but by then Bishnupriya had already suffered grievous injuries.

“I cannot say anything. I reached here as my son did not pick up my phone call. The couple was not in good relations with each other. They were at times indulging in altercations. I had previously tried several times to resolve the difference but to no avail. My son was separately staying with his wife and daughter,” Biswajit’s father Hemanta Kumar Mallik said.

“The two had got married after having a love affair. The woman was frequently creating a disturbance in the family,” accused Biswajit’s elder sister expressed.
