“Key accused Mahendra had hatched a plan to kill his wife around eight days ago. He and his two friends executed the murder plan on Monday night when the couple was returning from an Aadhaar Kendra in Nandapur. Firstly, accused Mahesh Mali beat the victim woman with a wooden lathi (baton) and she collapsed on the ground. Later, Mahendra beat his wife to death. She died on the spot,” Sunabeda SDPO Manabrata Satpathy stated while briefing in a presser.

Preliminary probe suggests that the woman was killed over a family feud.

Worth mentioning, accused Mahendra had hatched the story that some miscreants killed his wife after tying him to a tree at Hariamunda village under Nandapur Police limits in Koraput district on Monday night.
