Bangalore-Kamakhya Express mishap in Odisha: Watch drone visuals of restoration work
Drone visuals have captured the aftermath of the derailment of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express Train that claimed the life of one passenger near Nergundi Junction in Choudwar locality of Odisha’s Cuttack.
The footage shows restoration works going on in full swing after the chaos and destruction on the railway tracks. In the aftermath of the rescue mission, restoration work on the tracks was expedited, with railway workers labouring throughout the night to ensure that trains could resume running by this morning.
Train Services Resume:
Meanwhile, train services are back to normal on the route through Nergundi Station, following the derailment of the Kamakhya Express. Quick completion of track repairs facilitated the resumption of regular train operations. The first train successfully traversed the accident site at approximately 09:30 AM today, running via Kendrapara Road and Nergundi.

CRS Probing The Derailment:
On the other hand, the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) is currently conducting a detailed probe and looking into factors leading to the accident.

“The CRS is currently conducting a detailed probe. We are trying to ascertain the reason of the train mishap. Final report will be submitted soon,” informed Parameswar Pankawal, General Manager, East Coast Railway.
Compensation for Deceased & Injured:
The ECoR has announced compensation for those affected by the Kamakhya Express train derailment. The deceased’s next of kin will receive Rs 5 lakh while the critically injured will receive Rs 2.5 lakh and those with minor injuries will be given Rs 50,000 each.
