An investigative report has identified negligence by the railway engineering section as the primary cause of the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailment in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district.

A day after train derailment at Gonda Railway Station, the loco pilot of Dibrugarh Express Train claimed that he heard an explosion sound just before the train went off the tracks. Even a passenger travelling in the train claims the same.

The incident happened in Pikaura between Gonda and Jhilahi. CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed the situation as rescue teams arrived. Top Railway officials are on-site, with injury details yet to be confirmed.

At least two people have been killed after being run over by a train at Kalajharia Railway Station in Jharkhand’s Jamtara. As per the railway officials, the incident occurred at around 7 PM on Wednesday.

Howrah -Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Howrah -Bangalore Express and Shalimar -Hyderabad East Coastal Express from Howrah/Shalimar will remain cancelled today.  

Two derailed coaches fell on a goods train on an adjacent track. The affected coaches were badly mangled in the collision.

Meanwhile, the passengers, who were waiting to board on the train at Puri Station, expressed discontentment due to the unexpected delay of the train. The train was scheduled for Howrah.
