Gayatri Behera
A pal of gloom has descended across the country after the sad demise of Tata Group’s chairman emeritus and veteran industrialist Ratan Tata.
Ratan Tata along with the then Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had provided pattas to some landless families in a special programme at Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district seven years ago.
Reminiscing about the programme and Ratan Tata’s kind gesture, a beneficiary identified as Gayatri Behera from Dhobabandha Sahi area in the district has expressed her deepest condolences.
In that programme, Ratan Tata presented the patta to Gayatri and extended his best wishes to her. Though Ratan Tata is no more with his mortal body, Gayatri still feels nostalgic about his kind words and gestures.
“I am deeply shocked after hearing that Ratan Tata has passed away and he is no more among us. I was landless and he has provided me a land patta. I will be ever grateful to him. I still find it hard to believe that he is no more,” said a crest-fallen Gayatri.
Ratan Tata joined hands with the Odisha government for the Jaga Mission project to provide houses to slum dwellers in the State in 2008.
Besides, Tata Trusts, under the leadership of Ratan Tata, worked towards education, skill development and healthcare facilities in Odisha.
