Renowned industrialist and former Chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata passed away due to age-related health issues at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday evening. Ratan Naval Tata, the 'Business Titan' breathed his last at the age of 86 on October 9.

Renowned industrialist and former Chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata passed away due to age-related health issues at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday evening. Ratan Naval Tata, the 'Business Titan' breathed his last at the age of 86 on October 9. 

Confirming the same, his brothers and sisters, shared a post reading, "It is with deep sorrow that we announce peaceful passing of our beloved Ratan. We, his brothers, sisters and family, take solace and comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from all who admired him. While he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humanity, generosity, and purpose will continue to inspire future generations. During this time of grief, we request privacy as we come together to honour his memory." (sic)

His sudden demise has left the entire country shocked and condolences poured in from different quarters including the President, Prime Minister and several other dignitaries.

President Draupadi Murmu took to social media and wrote, "In the sad demise of Shri Ratan Tata, India has lost an icon who blended corporate growth with nation building, and excellence with ethics. A recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, he took forward the great Tata legacy and gave it a more impressive global presence. He inspired seasoned professionals and young students alike. His contribution to philanthropy and charity is invaluable. I convey my condolences to his family, the entire team of the Tata Group and his admirers across the globe."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, "Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better."

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah wrote, "Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary industrialist and true nationalist, Shri Ratan Tata Ji. He selflessly dedicated his life to the development of our nation. Every time I met him, his zeal and commitment to the betterment of Bharat and its people amazed me..."

Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressing his grief wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of Ratan Tata Ji, an industry legend and a true national icon. His visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to ethics and immense contributions to India's growth will inspire generations to come. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. His legacy will live on forever."
