Youth jumps into Brahmani river in front of father in Dhenkanal, goes missing

A youth allegedly jumped into Brahamani river from Baji Rout bridge at Bhuban in Dhenkanal in front of his father and went missing on Wednesday night.

The youth has been identified as Parsuram Kamar of Kirtanpur village in the district.

According to sources, Kamar along with his father were returning home from his uncle’s house on a bicycle.

Kamar suddenly got off the bicycle on the middle of the bridge and before anyone could understand anything, he jumped into the river, sources informed, adding that the exact reason behind Kamar’s action is not known.

On being informed about the incident, Fire Services personnel rushed to spot and launched a search operation. However, the search operation was halted due to the low visibility in the night.

Though the search and rescue operation resumed this morning, till the last report came in, there was no traces of Kamar.
