Budget Session: Per Capita Income increased, unemployment growth rate declined in Odisha, says Governor

In his address, Odisha Governor Raghubar Das said that the state’s economy has witnessed an annual average growth rate of 6.47 % at 2011-12 prices during the period from 2012-13 to 2-22-23 (AE), which is higher than National/ Annual Average Growth rate of 5.59 %.

The post Covid growth revival of Odisha is quite exemplary in terms of economic growth as per the Advance Estimates 2022-23 of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), said Odisha Governor Rabhubar Das in his address on the opening day of the Budget Session of Odisha Assembly on Monday.

In his address, Das said that the state’s economy has witnessed an annual average growth rate of 6.47 % at 2011-12 prices during the period from 2012-13 to 2-22-23 (AE), which is higher than National/ Annual Average Growth rate of 5.59 %.

As per the Advance Estimate, Odisha’s economy has registered a growth rate of 7.8% in 2022-23 (AE) at 2022-12 prices which is higher than Indian economy projected to grow by 7% in 2022-23 (AE).

Similarly, the Per Capita income in Odisha at current prices has grown significantly at 16.9% in 2022-23 (AE) to reach Rs 1.51 lakh from Rs 1.29 lakh in 2021-22, said Das in his address in Odisha Assembly.

The unemployment growth rate of Odisha has also declined from 7.1% in 2017-18 to 6.2% in 2019-20, he said.

Apart from this, the growth rate of agriculture and allied sector of the state during 2022-23 (AE) at 2011-12 prices has increased by 6%, whereas, in industries and service sector of the state, a growth rate of 6.1% and 8.8% has been achieved respectively, Das added.
