Accused in Beleswar double murder case nabbed after over 5 years
Commissionerate Police-Cuttack claimed to have cracked the mystery of a murder that had previously taken place at Beleswar locality in Cuttack district on December 12, 2019. A man was arrested on Friday in connection with the case, after more than five years.
The accused was identified as Santosh Sinha, a senior cop informed.

“Two senior citizens were brutally killed in Beleswar locality of Cuttack in 2019. Police have been probing the suspicious death of an elderly man Srinath Samal, aged 78 years, and his wife Bidulata Samal, aged 72 years. Since then, the accused managed to escape the eyes of police. He was not even suspected by the deceased’s family,” the Twin City Commissioner of Police Suresh Dev Datta Singh stated while briefing to mediapersons.
“Motive of the crime was ‘perceived injustice’. Accused man happens to be the husband of a domestic help, who had been working in the household. Allegedly, the victim couple was rudely behaving with the woman,” the Police Commissioner said in the presser.

Worth mentioning, Srinath Samal, a former employee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), was from Jajpur district. He had been residing with his wife in Beleswar under Madhupatana police limits of Cuttack for around ten years. The last call his wife received was from one of their daughters, who lives in Patrapada locality of Bhubaneswar.
Initially, dacoity was believed to be the reason behind the double murder.
