Bolangir double murder: Police suspect honour killing, probe intensifies 

When the entire coastal belt of Odisha was on its toes as it was bracing up for the severe cyclonic storm Dana, Bolangir witnessed a gruesome double murder of a youth and a girl on October 24, 2024. Their throat slit bodies were recovered from Tandamunda forest under Puintala police limits.

While carrying out the investigation, police recovered the car, suspected to be used in the murder, from Burla medical campus.

Police suspect it to be a case of ‘honour killing’ and intensified its investigation into the shocking incident.

Sources said that 5 to 6 persons are suspected to be involved in the murder of the youth and the girl. It is suspected that the deceased were in some relationship.

It has been learnt that the duo were from outside Odisha and had been staying at a rented location in Bolangir for the past couple of months.

Police got information about the involvement of some persons and subsequently recovered the car used in the crime from the parking of Burla medical.
