256-metre-high chimney razed in Dhenkanal using 1000 kg explosive

The 256-meter-high chimney of Lanco Company at Kurunti village under Kushapanga panchayat of Odapada block in Dhenkanal district was pulled down on Monday. 

The administration got the chimney demolished using around 1000 kilograms of explosives. The administration and Saffron Resources Company jointly executed the demolition.

The now-demolished chimney was not used even once since its construction. Lanco had constructed it in 2010. Because the company couldn’t run the company, it was later sold off. 

Notably, the administration had earlier attempted twice to raze the chimney but failed in its attempt.
