Airfield Police in Bhubaneswar arrested two bouncers on Thursday on charges of demanding extortion and kidnapping the floor manager of a bar in Bhubaneswar.

The accused were arrested after the bar manager filed a complaint at Airfield Police.

As per his allegations, the accused bouncers have been demanding Rs 50,000 from the manager every month as extortion. When he refused to pay up, they abducted him on July 28, thrashed him, and later released him.

The police have also seized a four-wheeler from the accused and launched a probe to ascertain the involvement of any other persons in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Commissionerate Police has intensified its anti-extortion drive in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar as they head towards the festive season. The police have urged everyone to come forward and register a complaint in case they fall prey to ‘Dadabati’ (extortion) demand from anybody.
