Nayagarh: Human trafficking racket seems to be flourishing in the state as one more tout has been arrested by Odisha police from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. 

As per police, the accused identified as Ghanshyam Das is a resident of Niwari in Madhya Pradesh. It is adjacent to the Jhansi and Mahoba districts of Uttar Pradesh.

A police team from Odisha had left for UP in search of Das and conducted raids at several places to get hold of the accused following complaints from a victim who managed to escape from the clutches of Das.

The victim married to one Ranjan Jena was sold to Das for Rs 40, 000. Jena who hails from Bhubaneswar decamped with the amount. Later, Das had arranged a buyer who was willing to shell out Rs 1, 50, 000. However, the victim escaped to Odisha and reported the incident to Mahila police in Bhubaneswar.

Based on her complaints, a team was set up and was sent to UP to apprehend Das.

Das used to smuggle girls from Nayagarh in Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier, police had arrested Jena and his two aunts who were forwarded to court.

It may be recalled that one more tout was arrested in Bhubaneswar at railway station after the minor victim hailing from Nayagarh raised alarm.
