  • Urinary tract infection can be quite irritating and painful.
  • Home remedies like using a heat pad or increasing Vitamin C supplements can really help.

Come summer and issues related to the urinary tract are on the rise, especially in hot tropical countries like India. Perspiration and sweat give breeding ground for the bacteria leading to an increase in the number of urinary tract infections.

The frequency is more among women going through menopause. However, at the initial stage, UTI can be effectively treated with home remedies.

Drink lots of fluid

One of the most common symptoms of UTI is frequent urination. The more you pee, the better the chances of the bacteria getting cleaned out of your system. And for that, you should drink lots of fluid.

It can be plain water, fruit juices, or even herbal teas. Sipping fluid throughout the day will dilute the density of bacterial presence in your urinary tract and thus help to eliminate the symptoms.

Probiotics are helpful

Probiotics are good for immunity and also promote digestion. They have been found to be effective in treating as well as preventing UTI symptoms when taken along with regular antibiotic treatment.

For good urinary tract health, you can try taking prebiotics as well as probiotic supplements that help replace bad bacteria with good bacteria in your urogenital system.

Increase intake of Vitamin C foods

Vitamin C foods boost the immune system. Drinking vitamin C-enriched drinks or orange juice or taking vitamin C supplements can help you to fight Urinary Tract infection symptoms effectively.

Apply a heating pad

The inflammation and irritation caused due to the UTI can cause discomfort, burning sensation, and pain. You can apply a heating pad to soothe the area and control the pressure and pain.

However, make sure that you do not place the heating pad directly under the skin. Instead, put a clean cloth first and then put the pad.

More garlic, less sugar

Garlic is good for the immune system. It has both antifungal and antibacterial properties. Allicin present in garlic has antimicrobial properties that are effective in treating UTI-causing bacteria E. coli.

Similarly, bacterial presence in the body can increase if you consume sugar in good amounts because bacteria love sugar and their population thrives on it. Eating more garlic and avoiding sugar in your diet will ensure that your UTI symptoms alleviate in a few days.
