Rayagada: A day after the gruesome murder of Maa Majhighariani temple trustee and his brother, police on Monday apprehended four accused involved in the crime and seized weapons from their possession here.

According to reports, temple trustee N. Peirraju Choudhury and his brother N. Nageshwar were attacked and brutally hacked to death by unknown miscreants on Sunday evening while they were returning from the temple after completing the rituals.

“He always kept himself engaged in the temple’s work. He was never involved in any dispute. I had also no enmity with anyone. But I have faith in God. The person responsible for this will not go unpunished”, following the murder elder brother of the duo N. Bhaskar Rao had said.

However, the people of the district would observe a day’s bandh tomorrow in protest against the murder of the trustee and his brother.

“People of 11 blocks of the district will observe a peaceful bandh for a day in protest against yesterday’s gruesome incident,” Chairman of Rayagada District Council Jagannath Saraka said.
