Berhampur: Five persons were arrested on Wednesday for alleged involvement in a murder at Kushapalli village in Bhanjanagar area of Ganjam district last month, police said.

“At least a dozen persons were involved in the murder of Chitra Tarini (25) of Kushapalli village and we have arrested five of them so far,” inspector in-charge of Bhanjanagar Police Station A K Parida said.

The miscreants, police said committed murder and threw the body packed in a sack in nearby Kaliamba jungle on February 23. The body was recovered from the jungle on March 16, 21 days after the murder. Post-mortem was conducted after the father of the deceased identified the body, which had multiple injury marks, police said

Previous enmity was believed to be the cause of the murder, the police said.

The arrested persons belong to the same village and were involved in several dacoity and robbery cases.
