Will Smith has been banned from attending the Oscar events for 10 years after he slapped Chris Rock on stage when the comedian was performing live during this year’s Academy Awards event. Reactions have started pouring in across the world with some supporting the decision whereas a few saying that Rock deserved what happened after he made fun of the medical condition of Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Over the years, many Bollywood stars have been banned by either an organisation or the media for their controversial or wrong behavior.

Salman Khan

The incident happened during the launch party of a song from Salman Khan’s film Kick. The media demanded that Sallu Bhai pose at a particular spot for them. However, the superstar refused which triggered a fight between the guards of Salman and the photographers. As a result, the union of photographers banned Salman Khan and refused to cover any of his movie events or click his pictures till July 2014 when Kick was slated to release.

While Kick was a big hit and the ban did not affect the success of the Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut movie, still Salman wanted the issue to be resolved and invited all the photographers to the wedding reception party of his sister Arpita after which the union lifted their ban on him.

A decade ban on Amitabh Bachchan

Stars need the photographers to cover them and become famous whereas the media needs bytes and photos of the celebrities to earn their bread. But there was a time when Big B was banned by the media for more than a decade. And this was because the media believed that it was Amitabh Bachchan who gave the idea of the Emergency and ban. There was a time when the media desperately wanted Amitabh to fail but all his movies released during this time including Deewar, Lawaaris, Mr. Natwarlal, Sharaabi and more became super-duper successful.

The press softened towards him after he almost died during the Coolie accident.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan

The relationship between Kareena and Saif was at its peak in 2010. During the promotion of a shoe brand that both of them were endorsing, the media walked out as the couple walked in because Saif and Bebo were very late for the press meet. Saif was really upset and profusely apologized to the media saying that they were delayed due to a traffic jam, Kareena was not at all apologetic which is why the media decided to boycott the meet and walked out.

To date, it is the most discussed controversy in Bollywood which occurred during an IPL match at Wankhede Stadium after a drunken SRK allegedly assaulted a stadium official. Mumbai Cricket Association said that SRK was drunk when he assaulted their official and hence, banned him from entering the stadium for 5 years. On the other hand, the superstar said that he did what any father would have done to protect his daughter.

Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha became a top heroine after back to back hits-Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain but also drew the ire of the photographers after she refused to pose for them several times. So, when during the success bash of Ek Villain, photographers refused to click the team of the movie, everyone was surprised. Later on, together with her PR firm, Shraddha sat down with the team of photographers and resolved the issue.
