The looted house of the Railway JE
In a chilling incident, a Railway JE was tied, gagged, held hostage and then looted late last night. The incident has been reported from Odisha’s Rourkela. As per the allegations, masked miscreants threatened the Railway JE with murder and looted cash and valuables from his house.
According to sources, the Railway JE Dilip Panda lives alone at his government quarter in Rourkela Diesel Colony. As usual, he was asleep when the robbers barged into his house by breaking open his window grill.
Wearing masks and armed with sharp-edged weapons, the miscreants first tied up Panda using ropes and held him hostage in a room before looting all the cash, gold, silver, and other valuables from the house.
They later fled leaving both his hands and legs tied. The matter came to the fore after co-residents heard his scream for help and untied him. The local police were alerted who rushed to the house and launched a probe into the incident.
The substantial rise in loot and robbery has become a matter of serious concern in the Steel City.
Till the filing of this report, the police had not arrested or detained any person in connection with the alleged loot of the Indian Railways' staff.
