On October 8, he received Mamita at Chandotara. Sahu then drove the deceased lady teacher in his car for shopping in Bhawanipatna.

Sahu claimed both then went to the Manikeswari shrine. Detailing the purpose, the prime accused said he took Mamita to the temple and requested her to take a vow before the goddess to not spill the beans against him. But Mamita didn't agree, he claimed.

On the way back, he throttled her to death on the back seat of the car, Sahu claimed.

Post her death, as per the pre-plan, Sahu took Mamita’s dead body to the under-construction Mahaling Stadium near the school premises , where the pit was made ready by his associate Radhe, the JCB driver and the clerk, and asked the clerk to spread a layer of cardboards in the pit as water had accumulated.

The victim's body was then set on fire using cardboard and tyres, Sahu revealed.

However, the police are yet to extract the 'big secret' Sahu was obsessed with and which had been the motive behind Mamita's murder.

Meanwhile, the police are also trying to ascertain whether Radhe, the clerk and the JCB driver were in the know how of Mamita’s murder and their role in destroying evidence.

On Wednesday, the Bolangir Police had produced Sahu before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Bangomunda and sought his remand for seven days. However, the court allowed the police to take him on remand for five days.
