In a major twist in the sensational case pertaining to the mysterious disappearance of a lady teacher from Mahaling Sunshine School in Kalahandi, the investigation team on Tuesday exhumed a decomposed body from an under-construction stadium near the school campus.

However, the identity of the body is yet to be established. The family members of the missing teacher, Mamita Meher have been approached to identify it. Besides, samples of the body will be sent for DNA profiling in order to ascertain its identity, sources in the police said.

A platoon of police force led by the SPs of Bolangir and Kalahandi were deployed at the site where the digging was carried out for clues about the whereabouts of Mamita.

Meanwhile, after Gobinda Sahu, the President of the School Managing Committee and the prime suspect in the case, escaped from police custody on Monday, a car belonging to him has been found. It is suspected that the car was used by Gobinda to kidnap Mamita and take her to an unknown location.

Apart from Gobinda, the Principal of Mahaling Regional College, Ranjit Sahu and an under-graduate girl student have also been questioned by the Police at Borda in Kalahandi in connection with the case.

Mamita has been missing for over 11 days. The family members of the lady teacher alleged that Sahu used to force women employees at the school to keep illicit relationships with him.

Earlier, an audio clip of a telephonic conversation between a colleague of Mamita and her brother Bunty had gone viral in which the former was heard telling Bunty that Sahu had sexually harassed many lady employees of the school and Mamita had threatened to expose him.

Mamita’s colleague can also be heard telling Bunty that Sahu had called upon Mamita on the pretext of an official meeting, the day after which she went missing.
