IT Engineer arrested for raping co-worker on the false promise of marriage in Bhubaneswar

The Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested an IT Engineer on the charges of sexually assaulting his co-worker on the false promise of marriage in the capital city of Odisha. The accused has been identified as Subhash Nayak.

Nayak had been on the run for the last six months. He surrendered on Friday following which he was arrested, sources said.

According to sources, Subhash worked with the victim in the same IT company. He lured her into a relationship with the false promise of marriage and developed a physical relationship with her. However, after repeatedly sexually assaulting her, he ditched her when she started talking to him about marriage.

Left with no option, the victim approached Badagada police and lodged a written complaint in connection with the incident in the month of June. However, the accused has been on the run since then. He had tried to get anticipatory bail from the court.

After the court rejected his bail applications, Subhash finally surrendered today, it was learnt. 

No comments could be obtained from senior officials of the Commissionerate Police in this connection.
