Robbers decamp with gold ornaments, cash from Maa TaraTarini Temple in Ganjam
Robbers decamped with gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs and all cash from the donation box of Maa TaraTarini Temple, the presiding deity of Ganjam district on Tuesday night. The miscreants did not even spare Maa’s crown, sources said.
The matter came to the fore after locals spotted the temple door open.
“Late Tuesday night, the robbers broke the lock of the main gate and entered the temple. They have decamped with gold, and silver ornaments. They have even broken the donation box and taken away all the money. Shockingly, there is no CCTV facility in the temple that made it easy for the robbers,” informed the temple priest.
He further added, “Police have reached the spot and a probe is on. Since there is no CCTV, it is hard to trace the miscreants now. The administration should help us in installing CCTV cameras so that such thefts do not occur again.”
Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by the temple priest and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
