Odisha Vigilance officials on Friday conducted multiple raids on residences, offices and properties associated with one Anti Smuggling Guard in Balasore district on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets.

The accused has been identified as Janardan Palai, working at Rice Receiving Centre (RRC) in Jaleswar.

As per reports, simultaneous house searches were conducted by Odisha Vigilance led by four DSPs, five Inspectors and other staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Balasore Special Judge of Vigilance.

Based on reliable information and the warrant, simultaneous raids are going at the following places:

1) Residential house at Dharastak, Post- Jaleswar, District - Balasore.

(2) Office room of Palai at Nuabazar in Jaleswar.

(3) Chandan hotel (dhaba) of Palai located at Santia in Jaleswar on NH-60.

(4) Residential house of one relative of Palai located at Dharastak in Jaleswar.

(5)  House at native village at Humbar, Post -Chhatrapur, District- Ganjam.

Till the last reports came in, the searches were underway and the calculation of the total value of Palai’s movable and immovable properties was not completed.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
