Dehra Dun: BJP on Tuesday accused Congress of politicising the death of Swami Nigamanand, who was on fast for nearly four months protesting corruption, and said no party leader went to see him when he was in hospital.

"When Swami Nigamanad was admitted in the hospital, no Congress leader went to see him but now it has started politics over his death," BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

Instead, he said, the BJP government in Uttarakhand took full care of Swami Nigamanand and admitted him first to Haridwar district hospital and then HImalayan Hospital when his condition deteriorated.

Swami Nigamanand, a seer of Matri Sadan ashram in Haridwar, who was on fast demanding halt to quarrying in Ganga and shifting of Himalaya stone crusher from Kumbh mela area, died yesterday in the hospital. Swami Nigamanand was in coma since May 2.
