"That is rubbish. I hope you don`t believe that rubbish," he told a press conference when asked about Achuthanandan`s allegation that PMO and the Home Ministry lied on his communication to the centre demanding a ban on lotteries.
Chidambaram said Achuthanandan`s letter to the Prime Minister and himself were replied in January this year and December last year respectively.
He said both the PMO and Home Ministry have replied pointing out to the state government that if it wants a CBI investigation, it should write to department of personnel and training seeking such an inquiry and give consent under section six of the Delhi Police Special Establishment Act.
"But to my knowledge it has not been done," he said.
