Two killed, eight critical as marriage party vehicle overturns in Odisha
Two individuals have tragically lost their lives while eight others sustained severe injuries after a vehicle ferrying a marriage band party overturned on the Sonepur-Balangir road near Haradkhol, Odisha.
The incident occurred when the vehicle carrying approximately 25 passengers was en route from a wedding in Manmunda to Kalahandi and overturned after losing balance.
Local authorities responded promptly to the site upon receiving news of the accident. Tragically, two individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The remaining eight injured were urgently transported to Sonepur Medical College and Hospital.
Authorities had to use a cutting machine to rescue the injured people trapped inside the vehicle.
As per reports, the deceased and injured reportedly originated from the Tura area of Bargarh. Sonepur police have commenced an investigation into the factors contributing to this unfortunate incident.
Stepping out from the joyful event in Manamunda, the vehicle was en route to the Kalahandi region when the driver reportedly lost control and overturned. According to police statements, approximately 25 people were aboard at the time.
Emergency personnel utilised cutting equipment to rescue passengers trapped in the wreckage. Those injured were promptly transported to Sonepur Medical Centre for treatment.
In response to the accident, the Sonepur police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
