Over 30 passengers were injured when a Bhubaneswar-Aska bus crashed into a lorry on NH-16 near Langaleswar Chhak, Aska. Authorities are investigating.

Over 30 passengers reportedly sustained injuries after a bus ferrying them from Bhubaneswar to Aska collided with a lorry on National Highway-16, near Langaleswar Chhak in Aska, early Sunday morning. 

According to eyewitnesses, the Balunkeswar bus, travelling towards Aska, struck the truck from behind. Following the crash, the bus driver and his assistant are reported to have absconded, abandoning the injured passengers.

Emergency Response

On being informed, local authorities responded quickly to the incident. All injured individuals were transported to the Khallikote Medical Centre, where they are receiving medical attention. The local police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. They are also searching for the driver and the helper of the bus.

The stretch of National Highway-16 where the accident occurred is known for heavy traffic, often leading to congestion and accidents.

Local residents have expressed concerns over the frequent accidents in the area and urged the authorities to implement more stringent measures to ensure commuters’ safety.
