Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and Kannada cinema’s Rocking Star Yash were on course for a monumental box office showdown in 2026. Their respective films - Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups - were initially slated to release around the same time. However, recent reports confirm that the much-anticipated clash has been averted.

No More Box Office Battle Between Ranbir and Yash
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Love & War will “miss its Eid 2026 deadline,” effectively avoiding a clash with Yash’s Toxic.
Billed as a grand tale of love, ambition, and turmoil, Love & War is set to showcase Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s hallmark fusion of breathtaking visuals and profound emotion.
According to an exclusive report by Variety, the much-awaited epic will arrive in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
The delay comes as a relief for fans and trade analysts who had been bracing for one of the biggest pan-India face-offs in recent memory.
The rescheduling also aligns with strategic business sense, ensuring both massive projects get solo theatrical windows. Meanwhile, Toxic has locked its release date for March 19, 2026, as confirmed by KVN Productions through a social media post.
The post read, “140 days to go… His Untamed Presence is Your Existential Crisis. Toxic The Movie releases worldwide on 19-03-2026.” (sic)
Love & War Running Behind Schedule
Sources reveal that Bhansali’s Love & War is facing delays due to an extended shooting schedule. Approximately 75 days of filming reportedly remain. The director has requested lead stars - Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal - to allocate bulk dates until mid-2026 to complete the film.
Initially planned for a Christmas 2025 release, Love & War had already been postponed to March 20, 2026. Now, with the new delay, an official update is expected soon from Bhansali Productions.
