Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious cinematic retelling of the Ramayana has been one of the most talked-about projects in Indian cinema. With Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi stepping into the role of Devi Sita, the film has sparked both excitement and debate. While some fans are thrilled by the grandeur and scale of the project, others have voiced objections- mainly questioning the suitability of certain casting choices.

Interestingly, no such criticism has surfaced for the casting of KGF star Yash as Demon King Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
Sadhguru Defends Ranbir Kapoor
During a recent conversation between Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra and spiritual leader Sadhguru, the topic of public backlash was brought up. When Namit referred to the criticism against Ranbir Kapoor as “unfair,” Sadhguru offered a thoughtful response.
He said, “It is not a fair judgment of an actor because he acted in some way. He acted in a certain role, let's say being Rama. You expect him to become fully Rama. Now tomorrow in another movie he may act as Ravana, some other production, they may choose him as Ravana. So that is a professional actor.”
Through his statement, Sadhguru emphasized the importance of separating an actor’s professional choices from their personal image, highlighting the craft of acting as a medium of transformation rather than identity.
Yash as Ravana: “A Handsome Man”
When the conversation shifted to Yash’s portrayal of the ten-headed Demon King Ravana, Sadhguru remarked with a smile, “Yash is a handsome man.”
Namit Malhotra immediately concurred, adding, “Yash is a very handsome man, and a very talented superstar in the country and incredibly loved. We want to show all shades of Ravana, his devotion, his depth, which only Yash can do.”
