On February 9, Bachchan had revealed about the operation on his blog. The actor had said he will get a CT scan done on Friday, but did not reveal the hospital he will be treated at. However, sources told PTI that he is to undergo the surgery at Seven Hills hospital today. "He was admitted to the hospital late last night," they said.
Seven Hills is the same hospital where his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan delivered a baby girl last year.
Big B, who has a history of stomach ailments, had written on his blog, "A surgery that I shall be undergoing on the 11th morning and the surgery they say is not too complicated."
He had suffered a near fatal intestinal injury while filming a fight scene in 1982 movie `Coolie` following which he remained in hospital for many months with fans praying for his well being. "My stomach which has already been the bed of many complicated battles in the past, shall have to entertain this as well," Bachchan said.
The veteran also thanked his well wishers and fans ahead of the surgery on his blog early this morning. "I wish to thank all those that have most graciously sent in their concern and greetings for a speedy recovery. Your prayers shall go a long way in bringing me back to normal and for this I am always eternally grateful," he wrote.
Meanwhile, superstar Shahrukh Khan has wished a speedy recovery for Bachchan.
"@SrBachchan sir wish you the best. jaldi hi theek thaak hokar aap aa jayein (get well soon)...my prayers and love to you sir...and a big hug... Nasrun minal lahe wah fatahun kareeb," Shahrukh wrote on Twitter.
SRK and Big B have worked together in quite a few films like `Mohabbatein`, `Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham`, `Veer Zaara`, `Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna`, `Bhootnath`.
