Vijay Diwas is a day to commemorate the mighty valour and bravery of Indian Defence Forces. There were many brave hearts who played major role in this victory. One such hero was Sam Manekshaw who was the Chief of Army staff during the 1971 war. His contributions earned him the title of architect of the 1971 war. Sam Manekshaw is distinguished for his four-decade-long eminent career and active role in almost five major wars in the history of India. General Manekshaw started his service with the British Indian Army during World War II and became the first Indian officer to be promoted to the position of field marshal.
