The district police of Mayurbhanj has suspended an ASI on charges of dereliction of duties in connection with shocking incidents of a quack reportedly administering injections meant for animals to patients on separate occasions.

The family members of the deceased, Kartik Meher alleged that his health condition worsened after taking medicines and injections from the doctor at the private clinic in Birmaharajpur.

In yet another instance of medical negligence, an elderly patient was allegedly administered a wrong injection at Basudevpur community health centre in Bhadrak. The matter came to light after tension erupted at the hospital over alleged recklessness of the on-duty nurse.

"Only distilled water was administered to my father and they kept the injection," claim patient's family.
