Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today shifted a senior doctor accused of sexually harassing women doctors from the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack and posted him at the health department here after students threatened with a strike.
"The state government has shifted the accused doctor Dr Sitaram Mohapatra, head of the department of Pathology at SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, to the health department with immediate effect," Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak told reporters here.
The minister said the government would initiate strong action against the doctor if he was found guilty by the departmental inquiry.
Though some women students have alleged of sexual harassment against the doctor, Mohapatra has rejected it.
The women doctors have already moved the police and the allegations were being probed.
