Odisha: Village Head Critical After Attack By Miscreants

Puri: Unidentified miscreants reportedly launched a deadly assault on Harihara Nanda, the Sarpanch of Bidyadharpur Panchayat under Satyabadi block in this district on Thursday.

The assailants allegedly tried to kill Nanda by chasing him in front of Bidyadharpur GP Office. Somehow the victim managed to dodge the impact, but was critically injured.

He was initially admitted to Sakhigopal Hospital in a critically condition, but was later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar when his health condition became critical.

Nanda had won the panchayat election as an independent candidate.

It is worth mentioning that Bidyadharpur came to the limelight a few days back, when a resident of the panchayat Kabir Bhoi pedalled his ailing wife on a trolley rickshaw for 85 kilometres from here to SCB Medical in Cuttack.

Eventually the patient succumbed while undergoing treatment in the hospital. After the event was widely publicised, many leaders thronged the panchayat to express their sympathy to Kabir.
