Bhubaneswar: In yet another instance of growing crime in the capital city, an engineer was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon by unidentified miscreants during a loot bid at Sailashree Vihar on Wednesday.

As per reports, the senior engineer who works with the Central Tool Room and Training Centre had gone to pluck flowers in the morning when two miscreants attacked him with sword with an intention to loot him. He received injuries while trying to resist the attack.

"The two miscreants came on a bike and attacked me with a sword. In a bid to save myself, I held the sword with my hands and screamed for help. They even kicked me but I did not leave the weapon," said the engineer who has received eight stitches for the deep wound he suffered in the attack.

Later, a security guard deployed at a nearby office rushed to the spot after hearing his screams. The miscreants then fled the spot.

Earlier on October 20, unidentified bike-borne miscreants gagged and robbed the gold earrings of a 70-year-old woman, who was plucking flowers from a tree outside the house of her neighbour in Sailashree Vihar area of Bhubaneswar.
