Balasore: BJP named Ragunath Mohanty as chairman of a 13-member election committee for the forthcoming by-election in Balasore Assembly constituency to be held on November 3.

The senior leader will be at the helm of the election campaign for the party in Balasore Sadar.

Earlier on Sunday, BJP had announced the candidates for the by-elections to Balasore Sadar and Tirtol Assembly seats.

Manas Dutta, son of deceased BJP MLA Madan Mohan Dutta will contest from Balasore Sadar while Rajkishore Behera is chosen as candidate for Tirtol.

The by-polls to both the seats have been necessitated following the demise of sitting BJP MLA Madan Mohan Dutta (Balasore) and sitting BJD legislator Bishnu Das (Tritol).
