The well-marked low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean has moved west-northwestwards and concentrated into a depression, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.
As per IMD, the system is very likely to move west-northwestwards till the evening of January 31 and then recurve south southwestwards and cross the Sri Lanka coast in the forenoon of February 1, 2023.

Rainfall Warning
Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at most places with isolated heavy rainfalls very likely over south Tamil Nadu on February 1 and 2.
Wind warning
Squally wind with speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely along & off Sri Lanka coast during January 30 and February 1. It will gradually decrease to 40-50 kmph and a gusting wind speed to 60 kmph on February 2.
Squally wind speed will reach up to 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph over Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area and along & off south Tamil Nadu & Karaikal coasts during February 1 and 2.
Strong wind reaching a speed up to 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph along & off north Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coasts will be witnessed during February 1 and 2.
