The IMD further informed that the system would continue to move west-north westwards, intensify further into a Depression around January 31

The low pressure area over East Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal now lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels. It is very likely to move gradually west-north westwards and become a ‘well marked low pressure area’ during the next two days.
