Today let’s talk about premium flagship category; the smartphones that are most discussed of late and are in the list of the most expensive phones you can buy this season. Yes, we’re talking about Galaxy S22 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Samsung and Apple’s flagships for this year respectively.
DESIGN:
The iPhone 14 Pro Max resembles its predecessor with exception of dynamic island in its display. This addition is real clever innovation and many other apps take its advantage to display their content. It has a huge camera bump. On the other side, S22 Ultra has a tiny punch hole camera and a balanced rear. The display is curved and is more wider than iPhone. There’s no huge bump in the rear. One important feature in S22 Ultra is that it has a built-in stylus, or as Samsung likes to call it S-pen. Both the devices are IP68 rated.
DISPLAY:
The Galaxy S22 Ultra flaunts a 6.8-inch display with 3088 x 1440 pixels. The iPhone 14 Pro Max's panel is a bit smaller at 6.7 inches and 2796x 1290. Both panels offer 120Hz refresh rates and can go as low as 1Hz. Both devices also have always-on displays and this is the first time an iPhone got this feature. The display on both devices is stunning.
CAMERA:
These devices feature some of the best cameras available on a smartphone. Apple for the first time introduced a 48 MP wide camera that delivers more brighter and detailed photos. It also offers new 2x telephoto option and better low-light performance due to Apple's Photonic Engine. The S22 Ultra has 108 MP main sensor which was previously available with its predecessors. S22 Ultra’s digital zoom of 100X is unmatched.
Both the devices compete neck-to-neck in this segment. 14 Pro Max captures better detail, clarity, and highlights with the larger sensor while S22 Ultra has a better HDR. Samsung also has fun features like the director’s view, 4K video in 10X zoom, while Bluetooth camera controls with the S Pen.
PERFORMANCE :
The iPhone 14 Pro Max is powered with A16 Bionic which is Apple’s first chip built using the 4-nanometer Process, and is also the fastest chip in a phone. S22 Ultra runs on snapdragon 8 gen 1, which is based on Samsung’s 4nm fabrication process. Both the devices handle heavy tasks with ease.
In India, Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,39,900 while Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at Rs 1,00,999.
