Indian women team won inaugural Kho Kho World Cup
Odia star Shubhashree Singh, hailing from Nilagiri in Balasore district, has brought laurels for the State and the nation. Competing as part of the Indian women’s team, she played a key role in helping India emerge champions in the recently concluded inaugural Kho Kho World Cup.
India clinched the title after beating Nepal in the summit clash at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. Shubhashree’s athletic prowess was instrumental in the team’s triumph in the mega event.
The pride of Shubhashree’s village, Shalabandha, and her parents, Seema and Rabindra Singh, is evident as she represents not only herself but also her community on an international stage. Her participation marks a significant achievement for the indigenous tribal communities of Odisha.

“We are really proud of Shubhashree’s achievement. We are so happy that she was part of the Indian team that emerged champions in the Kho Kho World Cup. We bless her to have a bright future,” said Shubhashree’s mother Seema Singh.
The Indian national Kho Kho teams included two women and one man from Odisha.

Notably, India dominated Nepal in a spectacular final, sealing their victory with an emphatic score of 78-40.
