Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is finding it difficult to host the upcoming Champions Trophy due to many factors. Initially, India objected not to play their matches in Pakistan due to the strained relationships between both the countries. Hence, ICC decided to organize the tournament in a hybrid model.

Succumbing to the pressure exerted by BCCI, It was decided that India will play all of their matches along with the semifinal and the final of the mega event in Dubai.

Moreover, it is not yet clear whether Team India captain Rohit Sharma will attend the photoshoot and captain’s press conference in Pakistan or not.

Now, a fresh controversy has erupted. Reports have been published in some sections of the media suggesting that India has objected to having ‘Pakistan’ - the name of the host nation printed on their team jerseys.

The development has angered PCB. An official of PCB has accused the BCCI of politicising cricket by rejecting the inclusion of Pakistan’s name on Team India’s jerseys.

“The BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is detrimental to the sport. First, they refused to travel to Pakistan, then they declined to send their captain for the opening ceremony, and now they are reportedly opposing the printing of the host nation’s name on their jerseys. We expect the ICC to intervene and support Pakistan,” said the PCB official.
