Jasprit Bumrah
Team India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah led from the front to guide India to a thumping win against formidable Australia in the first Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.
When India had a miserable first innings, Bumrah led the team aggressively with his aggressive bowling to make a strong come back to the match. He then inspired the batters in the second essay eventually to bat Australia out of the match. He also led the Indian bowling attack in the second innings to ensure a resounding victory against the hosts.
However, Team India’s performance was miserable in the second Test when regular captain Rohit Sharma returned to the squad following paternity leave. Though he demoted him to the middle order, his poor batting form didn’t help the team. Due to his poor form, he failed to motivate and inspire other players of the team to raise their games and as a result the whole team failed to impress as a unit.

Now, several fans and experts have put a question mark on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy ability. Former Australia player Simon Katich has also given a better rating to Bumrah than Rohit in the leadership department.
“When you compare the results of Perth and Adelaide, Bumrah’s captaincy and the use of the bowlers were far superior to Rohit at the Adelaide Oval. Indian bowlers attacked the stumps and bowled fuller and straighter lengths on Day 1 in Perth,” said Katich during a recent interaction.
“The bowlers were short and wider in Adelaide and Rohit Sharma didn’t correct the pacers despite standing in the slips. Rohit has to be proactive as a captain. Australia got out of jail in the last session on Day 1 as the hosts lost just one wicket and went on to win the match by a huge margin of 10 wickets,” he added.
