BGT 2024: Cheteshwar Pujara suggests what India needs to do to bounce back in Brisbane

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

After a loss in Adelaide, Cheteshwar Pujara suggests changes for India ahead of the 3rd Test in Brisbane. Focus on tackling length and bowlers' pitch strategy is crucial.

Border Gavaskar Trophy

After starting the Border Gavaskar Trophy with a thumping win in Perth, India suffered a massive defeat against Australia as the home team made an excellent comeback with a 10-wicket win against the visitors in Adelaide. Indian players found it difficult with the bat in the pink ball with questions raised over the technique of a few batsmen by cricket pundits.

However, Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has suggested key changes for the Indian team on how to make adjustments ahead of the 3rd test in Brisbane.

‘’We have to tackle the back of length a little better, we need to leave the balls which are above the waistline. Apart from the red ball, it will be a lot easier than the pink ball. The senior players have enough experience playing in Australia.’’ Pujara said.

‘’Indian bowlers will find it easier to adjust to the conditions in Brisbane, as the bowlers are used to hitting the 5-meter length in home pitches. Indian bowlers need to pitch the ball up to find success in Brisbane.’’ He added.

During the last BGT Series played in Australia, India registered a historic win in Brisbane during the 2020-21 BGT series where they chased down 328 runs to lift the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2-1. Rishabh Pant 89* and Cheteshwar Pujara 56* played pivotal roles in pursuit of India’s chase.

All eyes also will be on Rohit Sharma after his poor show during the 2nd test in Adelaide.

The 3rd test match starts from December 14 to 18.
