From Vande Metro and Vande Sleeper to world class stations, Railway Minister shares PM’s vision for Odisha

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw outlined PM Narendra Modi's transformative vision for Odisha's railway system, highlighting a significant increase in investment and the introduction of advanced services like Vande Metro and Vande Sleeper trains. It is election time and every political party is trying its best to woo the voters by showcasing their report card and vision for the coming years. In this context, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of the railway system in Odisha.

In an exclusive interview with OTV, Vaishnaw said the contrast in the development of railways is quite visible under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 10 years.

“Earlier, Odisha was getting around Rs 800 crore for railway development. Now the state is getting over Rs 10,000 crore for railway development. Before 2014, only 50 km of work was being done every year and now it has been increased to 200 km per year,” said Vaishnaw. The Railway minister further informed that a lot of progress has been made in the Khordha-Bolangir railway project. An investment of a total of Rs 50,773 crore is currently underway in Odisha, said the Minister.

Railway line has reached Daspalla from Khordha and railway line started from Bolangir to Sonepur. There is 149 km of forest area and we got permission from the forest department some six months back, the minister said.

PM Narendra Modi’s Vision For Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to provide world class railway system to Odisha. Already three Vande Bharat trains have been provided and soon Vande Metro and Vande Sleepers will be introduced, he said.

The work for converting 52 stations in Odisha into world class stations is currently going on in full swing. Of the 52 stations, the work for 48 stations has speeded up, the minister added.

“Odia Asmita, culture, language, employment, welfare through Subhadra scheme, Ayushman Bharat implementation, 1.5 lakh government jobs and paddy procurement at Rs 3100 are some of the promises made by the BJP,” said Vaishnaw.
