Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidates continue to face backlash from voters during their campaigns in various parts of Odisha for the General Elections 2024.

BJD’s Rairakhol Assembly candidate Prasanna Acharya had to face embarrassment as he was questioned about the development activities undertaken in the area during his tenure while he was campaigning in the constituency.

As per reports, residents of Sana Nuapada and Banshajal villages intercepted Acharya’s vehicle and surrounded the senior BJD leader during his campaign. They asked him about the 'lack of development activities in their areas'.

They also alleged that the BJD government has done nothing during its 25 years of governance and people in the region are still deprived of many basic amenities.

The video of the incident has reportedly gone viral over various social media platforms.

In response to the viral video, Acharya said, “A Congress friend asked me a question and I gave the proper answer. However, his question was made viral without my answer.”

In another similar incident, several women voters allegedly staged protest against BJD MLA candidate Prasanta Behera’s ‘padayatra’ in Salepur on Thursday.

As per reports, women voters at Sardala village under Harianta Gram Panchayat slammed BJD for giving false promises to end drinking water crisis in their area. They also reportedly asked Behera about the development activities undertaken by him.

Subsequently, Behera had to stop the ‘Padayatra’ midway amid the strong protests, said sources.
